The Greenwich Village Literary Pub Crawl is one of the longest running tours in the Village. Join us for a three hour walking tour with stops at three historic bars. Hear the stories, poems, and prose that makes New York City the epicenter of American Literature. If you like history, literature, drinking, humor, and good fun, you’ll love us!
Forget everything you think you know about the Village! Celebrate the lore, legends, and momentous literary moments, as we travel through the streets, and hear the writers tell personal stories in their own words. Immerse yourself in the vibrant bohemian atmosphere of Greenwich Village, and sit back and enjoy a drink as we recite their poetry and prose.

Explore the city through the eyes of influential authors who lived in NYC, enjoying a walking biography.
Visit the bars that inspired generations of writers and artists, and still do to this day.
Weekly tours led by local actors, writers, and artists, who are passionate literary and history buffs.
Currently, we visit The Four-Faced Liar, Kettle of Fish, and Marie’s Crisis.
Previous tour iterations have visited Minetta Tavern, Chumley’s, McBells, Cornelia Street Cafe, Cedar Tavern, and the White Horse Tavern.

Dismantle the lies other tours tell!
Critic Mary McCarthy once said of Broadway playwright Lillian Hellman, “Every word she writes is a lie, including ‘and’ and ‘the’”.
We work hard to dispel the historically inaccurate tales told on other tours, especially the “big fish” tales told by the writers themselves. Our tours are crafted with careful and extensive research, using archival documents like newspapers, pamphlets, personal correspondence, and broadsides. Wherever possible, we have cleared up any myths. However, we still will find many variations of these stories and will share the several different versions, or certainly the most interesting. We never let the truth get in the way of a good story!
No two tours are exactly the same!
Each of our charming and knowledgeable tour guides, share their unique sense of storytelling and performance. Let us know your favorite author beforehand and we will try to incorporate them into the tour if possible.
