Eric Chase (he/him) is a producer, actor, director, tour guide, business owner, aspiring author, guitar player, and has a reading list that is larger than the national debt. For well over 20 years, he’s guided groups through the streets of New York: sharing stories of the rich cultural and literary history, performing excerpts of their works, and kicking back a glass with those who would tag along. From the tours earliest days as a fundraiser for The New Ensemble theater company, later Bakerloo Theater Project, and then eventually becoming its own underground NYC institution, Eric has constantly read, researched, and expanded the knowledge base of the tour and its many guides. A passionate and dedicated researcher, he’s constantly digging up new references and sources, and is known for clearing up and correcting much of the misinformation commonly shared on other tours in NY. His tours have enriched its attendees, exposed them to new authors and poets, inspired patrons to read and write more, and he’s even influenced and updated the curriculum of American Literature college courses internationally. His collection of poetry written in his early 20’s would be considered some of the worst and whiny poems ever written, if anyone had ever had the misfortune to read them. Luckily no one has. Be grateful.
